In general, its so interesting when you consider the MAN 40/46 6 Cylinder Diesel displaced 57.8 liters per cylinder, for a total of over 20,000 CID...Or the design specification of the conning tower outer cover was 36mm thick...and each boat carried (1) MG42 and a compliment of 7.65 Master pistols...not to mention a full array of electric heaters, a refrigeration system for food storage and a very advanced C02 scrubbing system.

The U-Boat of all types certainly were very advanced vessels for their time!
