This boat is listed as being sunk, being too near the exploding merchant ship SS Hatimura, torpedoed by U442 coup-de-grace on 4.11.42 at 03:22, why wouldn't U132 continue her attack against the convoy, before returning to sink the Hatimura?. As I under stand from reading the various descriptions of this incident, they mention probably or possibly within lethal range. Having looked at what is actually known, I wonder if the following have been explained?. U132 torpedoed three ships, two sunk, Hatimura left crippled. Her survivors first rescued by American TUGS Pessacus and Uncas, ? How long after her torpedoing was this done, with two tugs why wasn't a towing considered?. The survivors were then transferred to the convoy rescue ship SS Stockport, ? Why didn't a ship from the convoy escort make a decision as either tow or sink?.Then assumingly with Hatimura abandoned and drifting U442 came along now THREE hours later and sank her. The attack report [Historische] states at 03:22 U442 fired X4 torpedoes at convoy SC-107, not at a single crippled ship, then at 06:37 U442 did fire two torpedoes at a straggler from SC-107 [SS Titus]. If correct would disprove a coup-de-grace shot that sank Hatimura. Lastly if by chance U132 was nearby when [U442] torpedoed her, why did the two U-boats, with no reason not to be both surfaced, not know of each others presence? John
