Hi Thorsten, Having looked at the reported details I wonder if the following scenario explains the U132, U442 and Hatimura incident. The time from when U132 torpedoed and damaged the Hatimura at 23:15 and the huge explosion reported by U442 at 00:44, would give the two rescue tugs time to collect the survivors and move on after the rest of the convoy, which gives credence to why U132 having witnessed her own attack results, being most probably surfaced as being alone with her prey to finish the job, the commander being unaware of her cargo, and bang both gone. As to why the escort did not sink her or have her taken under tow would also be logically on account of her cargo, and just maybe the officer in charge may have realised any U-boat would do what U132 may have done. If U442 had torpedoed Hatimura then she would most likely have shared her fate and that apparently of U132. Also this would explain why neither U-boat made contact, as the following attacks by U442 reported at 03:22 and 06:37, U132 was already at the bottom of the Atlantic. John
