Hello,
I want to ask a few questions about U-380
It’s true that
1) On the 3 February 1943, U-380 pulled into Port of Messina, Sicily for a brief stop to refuel but Ninth Air Force B-24s bomb the harbor facilities damaging the U-boat. For this reason U-380 returned at La Spezia on 6th Feb 1943.
2) On 6 May 1943 the U-380 stopped to Porto Nocovo (where is this harbor ???) to load 25 tons of ammunitions for the German troops fighting in Tunis. Then the U-boat headed south to the coast of Tunisia but this operation canceled due to the fall of Tunis and the ammunition went outboard.
3) On 10 May 1943 in the Mediterranean, U-380 rescued four German soldiers escaping from Tunisia in a small boat. The Gefreiter Hans Handwerk from Jägerregiment 7 "Hermann Göring", Gefreiter Ernst Schulz from Nachschubregiment der Luftwaffe 113, Obergefreiter Heinrich Pehn from 8./2. Flak-Abteilung "Hermann Göring" and Gefreiter Hans Renner from 8./Panzergrenadieregiment 443. U-380 brought them to La Spezia on 16 May.
