Hi John

The three U-boat wrecks located northwest of Cornwall that were lost in the "HW" or "HY" minefields were initially believed to be U-325, U-400 and U-1021 in 2007. However, Axel Niestlé made a detailed analysis of the U-boat wreck found in one of the "Artizan" minefields off Lizard Head in 2010 and subsequently reassessed the fate of U-325. It is now believed that U-683 is the third U-boat that had been mined northwest of Cornwall, as it is the most likely candidate, but as far as I know no evidence was found yet to support this attribution - that's why U-683 is still listed as missing.

Where is it written that the wreck in minefield "HW A1" lies in 50°32N/05°23W? This position is northwest of Cornwall and not off Lizard Head anyway.

Best regards
Rainer
