U345 enjoyed a fairly short career, being commissioned on 4/5/43 and sunk in the Howaldtswerke yard by US bombing on 13/12/43. The boat was then salved and paid off.
Uboat.net shows its subsequent fate as "foundered while under tow on 2 February 1944 in the Baltic Sea north of Warnemünde" but another source I have shows it as "surrendered and mined en-route from Warnemünde to UK 27/11/45." This source is a 1965 UK published book 'Navies of the Second World War: German Submarines 1'.
Is this a case of new information coming to light post-1965?
