<HTML>1. The captain. I find him to be one of the most interesting characters in any movie I\'ve seen. He isn\'t perfect, yet is a convincing and good leader. The chief is amazing, too.
2. I like the navigator, Kriechbaum. It\'s interesting to me that several times in the movie the captain runs his ideas by Kriechbaum. The captain obviously has a lot of respect for him. Also, and this is so subtle I might have invented it, but he seems more bothered than the others over the loss of life when they sink a ship, yet resigned to the fact that this is their job. When they are hearing the first ship go down and most of the crew are very happy, he is just standing there looking down at the floor, not smiling. Then, later, when the captain says something to him like, \" We really showed them, when the bulkheads broke,\" Kriechbaum gives him kind of a disgusted look. What do you think? Am I reading too much into that? Anyway, it makes me think he\'s an interesting character, and I would have enjoyed knowing more about him in the movie.</HTML>
