<HTML>First, I want to make a correction to the my earlier statements. I said the \"three out of 4 Judges rejected this arguement\". There wasn\'t 4 judges. Nuremburg had 8 judges representing 4 nations: United States, United Kingdom, Russia, and France. What I meant was the all the other judges rejected the tactic of proving that not picking up survivors was a legitimate tactic. All except the French contigent. Spearheaded by Francois Biddle. Who persuaded others to listen to Donitz\'s defense.

Vindictive? Maybe. If they really wanted to be vindictive, why did they put up with the process of a international tribunial? They could of handed them over to a country and let them face their fate. I know that if Doenitz and the others were in a Russian court they wouldn\'t of had a chance.

As for the Treaty of Versaille, I say that you are abosolutly right. Don\'t think, KNOW that the Versaille treaty will go down in history as the worst decisions made by man. It threw people together who didn\'t have similar culture. It also gutted Germany as a nation.

But in terms of the Nazis, it was a combination of things that happend in Germany. The Treaty of Versaille polorized the politics in Germany. You were either a facist or a communist. It also stripped Germany of its economy. This put people out of work and causes fear and anger. But it was combined with a then harmless dividend of World War 1. The propoganda machine in Germany during WW1 was VERY EFFECTIVE. What ever the government wanted its public to beleive, they beleived. When the war started to go bad for Germany, the propoganda would hide that fact in the interest of moral. But when the war ended all of a sudden, there was great confusion in Germany. German citizens thought \"Wait a minute, not too long ago we were winning this war. Now we are SURENDERING!?! What\'s going on here?\" Rumors started to fly that a huge conspiracy had toppled the German nation. The Versailles treaty made things worse. People started to think(but couldn\'t prove) that communists, leftists, and anarchists had taken control of Germany. Jews were also thought of as giving birth to communism. When you throw all that in to the mix you get a Germany that was ready for a leader to say \"I can solve all your problems and punish those who put you in the painful existence you are experiencing now. Follow me.\"

That\'s why after WW2 came to an end. We helped these nations. We gave Germany and Japan money and supplies to help get them back on their feet. This let the politics to stablize and helped to keep the peace.
