<HTML>When U-571 was discussed on one of History Channel\'s \"History or Hollywood\" segments, I believe Herbert Werner provided the most succinct comment on the film. He was asked what would have really happened if a US crew tried to do what the characters in the film were called upon to do. (Operate the U-boat.) His answer was, \"They\'d die.\" (That may be a slight paraphrase; in essence, he believed they\'d most likely sink the boat before they could figure out the diving controls.) </HTML>
