I didn\'t think much realism went into depicting the actual model of the aircraft used. Were americans ever stationed in the Gibraltar in 41\'. I think not. Probably some pilots from the RAF Eagle squadron might have seen combat there. If they did fight in the mediterranean in 41\', they surely must have used Kittyhawks as those were the favoured fighters with american pilots. Somehow i think they slipped in a bastardized version of a corsair(i know these are gull winged), hellcat and a wildcat in there. Why the directors did this I am not sure? There are one or two spots in the movie where the directors attention to detail is lacking such as the Enigma coding machine (I thought it was a hack job) and the aircraft scene. But they certainly looked like American warplanes. It had radial engines to start with and i can only think of American planes that had radials during WWII on the Allies\' side. What do you say?
