<HTML>Hello Volker and MM,
(it's spelled 'meisje', if you allow me to be pedantic) Please send her my 'groeten'
I'm not sure if monarchy anno 1930-ish is comparable with monarchy anno 2000. After all, it took people like Prins Claus to change monarchy from absolute rulers to, lets say 'a central identifying point in society'. And the Germans, I assume, had a bad taste in their mouths about der Kaiser (who fled, incidentally, to the Netherlands after WWI) and were, if I'm not mistaken, quite republican-minded. Ironically 'der kleine Gefreiter' would have dubbed himself Kaiser, I suspect, should the Dritte Reich have come out of the war victorious.
As I said, I'm sort of amazing myself by supporting royalty, because it simply isn't a democratic institution, but it's mainly the alternatives that I fear more. Not a very firm ground to convert people with
regards,
Dirk-Jan 'Dietzsch' van der Duim</HTML>
