Buchheim's book, "The Boat"

I realize this is the "movie" site, but want to endorse Buchheim's novel, which was the basis of the movie. I had never read the book before, but now that I have, I appreciate the movie even more.

If you haven't read the book, do so. It is a fictional U-boat patrol and uses many real events, from several boats, to make the book very interesting. It is almost the screenplay of, "Das Boot".
