David, et al:

I would suggest a movie made about the USS BARB (SS-220)
commanded by Eugene "Lucky" Fluckey, Medal of Honor recipient.

His non-fiction book "Thunder Below" is a masterpiece, and the
most exciting and factual book of WWII submarine warfare that I have ever read.

I hold a signed copy at present. Admiral Fluckey is still alive and
well.

Check it out in your local (U.S.) library, or purchase one from
Amazon.com or abebooks.com.
