I have the book "U-Boat War" which was written by Bucheim and the photos you see him taking actually happened and are in this book. If you look at the men in these photos the resemblence is uncanny to the actors in the film. It is highly accurate.
If you read the book, this is the perfect companion as the photos of the events described in the book are here. I would recommend this book to everyone.
