Current is measured in amps not watts or was that your point?
"Diesel engines can be turned on 20 meters under water."
I forgot who it was that ran the diesels to surface his boat because his E-motors were inoperative. Pretty much sucked all the air out of the boat, but the crew survived.
Kapitänleutnant Gerd Schreiber commander of U-95 could not tell the diference between a German and Dutch submarine. He was sunk by the Dutch submarine O-21 after sending it a Morse signal.
