of water, 80 miles north-northeast of Christobal, Panama Canal
Zone, was considered cicrcumstantial for many years, legal and operating evidence accumulated by the U.S. Maritime Commisssion, for the purpose of assigning war reparations and for payment to owners for American ships damaged during World War II, along with my own findings, between 1973 and 1978, concluded that it was SURCOUF that was sunk by the SS THOMPSON LYKES that fateful night of February 18. 1942."
