Hi Robert,

"Downfall" („Der Untergang") is, so far as I can tell and according to my German friends, a very true-to-life portrayal of the last twelve days of the Third Reich, shot monstly in Hitler's bunker, though with some shots of the ruined streets outside. Bruno Ganz does a masterly job of playing Hitler, showing both the ranting-monster side with which we are all familiar through newsreels, and his more "human" characteristics. The rest of the cast is outstanding too. It's a bit long, but you forget about that while watching the film. I highly recommend it.
