it is hard to describe but if you look at Kl Tomsen in das Boot you can tell by many little hints, that Otto Sander was at home in his uniform. thats it, you must wear the uniform as if you were at home in them, and thats the difference it is also the whole appearance, the way they walk and stand , sit. etc, its different from an actor I believe so.
