All Hollywood movies is full of propaganda and every german is a nazi in every american Hollywood movie. I have red many historical books about WW 2 and i know that many of the germans wasn´t nazis at all. Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, Abwehr and Wehrmacht was the armed forces where there was least nazis. It was the SS, Gestapo and SA who where the nazi symphatizers. The german U-boat crews didn´t gun down any survivors from the allied sunken ships, thats a fact.
The only Hollywood WW 2 movies that is not full of propaganda is "The Flags of our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima". All the others is full of propaganda and lies,
even "Pearl Harbor" and "Saving Private Ryan".
If you want to see any real war movies i can only recommend the german "Das Boot" "Operation Valkyrie" "Der Untergang" "Napola" and "Stalingrad" and the finnish
"The Unknown Soldier", "The Winter War", and "Ambush" and the japanese "Yamato".
It was the british who cracked the enigma code with the help from the poles and it was three british sailors who collected vital codebooks from U-559. Tony Fasson, Colin Grazier and Tommy Brown. Only Brown survived, Grazier and Fasson drowned with the sub when it sunk. They where the real enigma heroes and not the americans. Later in the war americans captured the U-505 which is a museum now.
The only real great war movies was made from them who lost the war.
The director of U-571 Jonathan Mostow don´t know the history of WW 2 or he is an
arrogant person who don´t care about what the british achieved.
I can recommend a great book written by Phil Shanahan: "The Real Enigma Heroes".
The author tells the true story about Fasson, Grazier and Brown. Mostow is a very
arrogant person in my opinion and Shanahan wasn´t quite happy about him either.
I can recommend the british movie "Enigma" with Dougray Scott and Kate Winslet based on a novel by Robert Harris.
