I am interested in a copy of this film. Is it still available? VHS or DVD? How's the quality? My great uncle served aboard the actual sub used in this film. He fell overboard on July 14, 1927 at 0745 while attempting to bring aboard a spent torpedo following firing practice. He drowned and his body was never recovered from the South China Sea. He is the only casualty ever to take place aboard this sub. I'd like to see the film and look at the actual ship that he served aboard...and died upon. The ship's actual name was the USS S-31 (SS 136) Holland Class submarine. His name was Fireman 2nd Class John H. Hoffmann of Ashley, North Dakota. He worked in the engine room and I'm hoping the film may show scenes of this. At the time of his death, the sub was stationed in Tsingtao, China during the summer months but was usually stationed in the Phillipines. Thanks for any assistance that you may offer!
