Wartime Commander of U-802 and author of "Humanity in Sea Warfare?", Schmoekel is fit, trim, and speaks clear, precise english. I wish I could find a copy of his book here in the US! Interview was conducted in a hotel in Hamburg, Germany.
Helmut was the commander of U-802 from Dec 1943 until the end of the war when he surrendered his boat in Scotland.
