5.0 out of 5 stars A very factual history of an unknown war in Canada
Reviewed in Canada on 15 August 2018
A very detailed and thorough history of the Royal Canadian Navy battle with the German U-Boats in the St. Lawrence. From raw recruits to experienced Navy reservists, the battle terrorized the exhausted crews of the little escorts and the merchant men. The details of a sudden attack just after sunrise on 2 escorts. Action stations ringing on the minesweeper as the corvette exploded and swiftly sank stern first into the river. The minesweeper quickly started an attack dropping salvos of depth charges before returning to pick up survivors. The terrible sadness of the funerals in a little Anglican church in Gaspe. An excellent read for all.

5.0 out of 5 stars An eye opening book about the war in Canada that no one ever talks about.

The book was factual and quite an enjoyable read. It makes you wonder how the people that defended the shipping in the Saint Lawrence would not celebrated like the veterans that fought overseas. I would highly recommend this book.

Very interesting book and subject, however author's assumptions and liberties concerning the thoughts and actions of individuals hurts it's historical worthiness.
