I don't doubt that you're right. It's just that most photos I've seen of type IX boats without netcutters appear around 1942 (right in time for this boat, whose history I don't know.) I just wanted to point out for other people's benefit that earlier tpe IX boats, like the type IXB did have netcutters as standard. Most IXC boats that I've seen, don't have them.
