I'm on the bd of the Ft. Miles Hist Assn. As you know U-858 surrendered here on 14 May 1945. We are restoring portions of Ft. Miles into a WWII museum. We are fortunate to have one of the twin Flak38 AA guns from her sister boat, U-853. It is in amazingly good shape for being submerged off Pt. Judith for 23 years and out in the weather until 2005. She has all her amour plates and both barrels. We are restoring her to display. Our gun is more complete that the U 505 in Chicago. We need photos and specs to assist us in the effort. The staff in Chicago has not been cooperative. It was made by Mauser. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Kind regards
