What color for bottom of type IXC hull?

I've got the Nichomo 1:200 scale Type IXC model, but it only refers to the bottom of the hull as "bottom color". Anyone have any idea what the color is?

My great-uncle Hans "Asi" Schaumloffel was the cheif engineer on U-126, a type IXC, with Capt. Ernst Bauer, but went down with his boat on 3 July 1943.

Anyone also know of any good larger scale Type IXC models?
