Hi Paul,
I am sure, because I have seen a colour picture of HMS Graph.
The paint were not changed, but can´t remember which book it was.
The picture shows HMS Graph with the Union Jack in a Habour beside (left) an british made submarine.
Both submarines are lying beside an supply ship.
The main task of HMS Graph was hunting german submarines
on the western french coast.
It almost hit U - 333 Kplt. "Ali" Cremer.
The original paint was usefull for this use, because a german proverb says: " In the night all cats are grey "
