Paul,

I forgot to mention the range of books of "Osprey, man at arms" I don't know the title anymore but there is a book in that range that covers the uniforms of the Allied and Axis Navy's with full colour drawings and a lot of tekst. I don't know if this range is still availeble but you could try Amazon.com.
