Turning a brass barrel for the deck gun

How does one turn a brass barrel. I am thinking one needs a lathe do to do this. I do not have a lathe. Any suggestions or technique on how to turn a brass barrel. As I am sure you might guess, it is to replace the barrel provided in Amati's 1:72 U Boot.
