I took your suggestions within the context of weathering, as I also have been modeling for about four decades now. I used your research to apply the lower hull and deck colors and am very pleased with the results. From answering questions in other forums myself, I know the TIME and effort that is required to pull out the FS chips, compare with other chips and color references and assemble the information purely to assist other modelers I will likely never meet. THANK YOU!
As Ranier is a regular and helpful contributor here, I'm confident he did not intend offense. (I know that I have made statements, perhaps even in jest, which have gone terribly wrong on the net because we don't have the benefit of seeing facial expression or hearing tone of voice). I certainly hope Ranier and all others with information, even if they disagree, will join in this thread to the benefit of U-Boat modelers worldwide (some of us 'newbees'). (It IS, after all, a DISCUSSION forum). The proliferation of this model will spurn aftermarket parts, decals, figures, accesories, reference material and other products (maybe another 1/72 scale sub!) which will well serve the interests of this group.
