I had an idea before that probably you could make a resin cast from the wooden deck. Buying resin just for this might be quite expensive, but years ago I bought a Verlinden figure with a crossbow, and the half of the crossbow was missed from the box. I pushed the other part into plasticine, pulled out and put some two component epoxy glue into its place. As I remember I had to sand it a bit, but finally it was like the original.
You can try this procedure to correct the 72-504 set, to fit your needs.
