U-96 deck colour

Hello all,

I have a question which I am hoping someone here might be able to help me with. I am making a model of U-96 and want to know whether the metal bow and stern sections of U-96's deck were the same colour as the conning tower/ upper hull colour or whether they were painted to match the dark preservative paint used on the wooden part of the deck.

Do any photos exist which definitively answer this question?

I should mention that I am modelling U-96 in the latter half of 1941.
