Yellow stripe on conning tower...

Hallo,

I am about to build the Revell 1:144 Type VII C/41.
The picture on the box, and the instructions for painting, has a yellow stripe on the conning tower and the deck...

Wasn't the yellow stripe just used to denote Training boats?

The box also specifies this as an "Atlantic Version" and includes decals for U-998, and U-1004. However, I do not find any evidence that these boats had a yellow stripe.

Also, is there any visible way to tell the difference between a Type VIIC and a Type VIIC/41 from the outside?

I know the Type VIIC/41 had a thicker pressure hull and lighter equipment, but I wouldn't expect this was outwardly visible.

Thank you,
Kristoff
