The U1006 was actually captured and taken to Halifax, Halifax Harbour, Nova Scota where it was researched at the Bedford Oceanic Institue. This I can prove from a photograph sent to me by Don Spinks which was taken by his Grandfather Westley Allen Spinks. A Lloyd Meredith whom lives in Ontario confirmed the details of the story which my father told me 2-3 years previously before he died in 2003, the pictures that I have here tell the complete story as the service records were edited to protect the resulting conspiracy that the British Navy and the Canadian Navy had at researching the U1006. 2 other submarines were forced to come to the surface and surrender and also were taken to Halifax Harbour. People keep telling me "Oh it is only your father's memories!" but it was other peoples memories that preserved on the Outremont and the New Waterford that whom would tell the real story that happened.
People may contact me for copies of the photos that I have here.
