this is all I know, hope it helps:
Heinz Schaeffer lived a couple of years in Argentina where he ran a small electrical cable manufacturing firm, which sold cables to the 'Automotriz' (a Borgward branch factory in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina). Somewhere in the late 60's or early 70's he returned to Germany - and to heavy drinking! - until he died in the early 80's.
I know this because Schaeffer was a very close friend of my father.
About the rest of the crew: the married ones were left off Sweden's (or Norway's?) coast, the rest continued on. Some of them returned to Germany many years later, but most apparently stayed in Argentina, moving to Villa General Belgrano (where most of Graf Spee's crew had also settled).
I have no information about U 530 crewmembers.
