Torpedo running data

Can anyone explain to me how the depth and course information was input into the torpedoes in the tubes?

By that, I mean was it done mechanically, magnetically or electrically and, either way, how did it line up since I cannot see any guides to line up a torpedo in its tube, unless of course, I've just failed to spot any?
