Hello Ray
I think you have come up with a tough one. The Germans are famous for their record keeping and it is almost a certainty that at one time there was a piece of paper in a file somwhere which showed on which boat that chronometer was installed. The question now is, does that piece of paper still exist, and if so where is it located? Perhaps Gudmundur can steer us in the right direction - he is pretty good at kicking around in the U-boat files!
I would be very interested to hear what you learn - wish I could be of real help on this.
