Hi again Les!

In summer of 1940 Squadron Leader Humphrey de V. Leigh RAF,
a veteran pilot of WW I,conceived the idea of installing a 24 inch searchlight
in the lower turret of a Wellington bomber. They functioned in the very way
"Superkraut" describes it,and by June 1942 the first "Leigh-Light-Wellingtons"
began to make night a/s patrols over Bay of Biscay.

Regarding losses:The Germans reckon that they lost 32 000 submariners lives,
from 781 U-boats lost to all causes.
