WWII boats today

Robert Eno had a question about how well a u-boat would work in todays enviroment. I think that Taiwan operates 4 American WWII era diesel subs. I wish I could remember where I read that. The Taiwanese are not really optimistic about how successful they would be against the Red Chinese navy if they would go to war but if they do, Robert would probably have his answer.
