Yes they did . The torpedo was called LERCHE . It was a passive homing torp with a remote controlled directional microphone ( made by AEG ) . This was a swivel mounted magneto-strictive microphone and the the torpedo was connected to the sub with 6Km of .45mm hard copper wire with IGELIT insulation.The German classification was G7es and apparatus number 48. It had a diameter of 53.46 cm and length of 716.3 cm and had 274 kg of explosives. The type TX was also wire guided ,type G7e ,apparatus number 43 and called SPINNE. It was 53.46 cm in diameter and 716.3 cm in length and had 280 kg of explosives.
