Robert
I too have just finished reading this book (I couldn't wait to pick it up and read it, but then again I didn't want to finish it!). The whole story from the beginning when they were all in the bar, to the "frigging around" and then all the action with the convoy and the destroyer was amazing. The book explained a lot of the technical stuff that I didn't really understand from the film, for ages I have been wondering why the Captain kept calling his Chief Engineer "Ellee" (seemed a bit funny to me) until it was explained that the Chief Engineer is Leitender Ingenieur (LI).
Recommended reading for all !!
Cheers,
Fiona
