Anchor Chain Locker

Does anyone know where the (anchor) chain locker was located in a Type VII U-boat? Was it inside or outside of the pressure hull? I presume that it would be outside but... Also, where was the anchor windlass located and how was it protected from the pressure and corrosive effects of seawater whilst the sub was submerged?

Finally...(yes, there is and end) do modern subs have anchors?
