I am really surprised :How can you see a viking ship in this photo?

Anyway this U-Boat cannot be the U-83 like you suggest.
In one point you are right: the U-83 displayed a a viking ship emblem but, unlike the concerning photo emblem, it was framed /surrounded by a circle.

Furthermore , according to both this site and Georg Högel "U-Boat emblems of WWII 1939-1945" U-83 never displayed the olimpic rings of crew 36´s emblem.
