I placed a posting covering some of the issues/questions raised her in the "General Discussions Section".
I can well imagine that standing watch was no picnic , wet cold aand downright uncomfortable , enough to chill you to the bone. Boring , yet terror could unfold with an "Alarm " call in the shape of a diving Liberator or Sunderland bearing down with charges out and machine guns reaching out for you.
I obtained todat a pair of 7X50's "BEH" marked Leidz (hope I spelt that right) - I have seen similar pairs in news reel footage and photos as in "U-Boat War" and on "Das Boat".
There is a reference work on this subject matter by a gent called Seeger if any one can fill me in I would be grateful, likewise I would welcome info on makes/ types other sizes , rubber coatings , filters goggles etc.
I paid dear for the pair I now have but the optics are clear and I look upon them as a piece of history in themsselves , what did they view and where did they go , what happened to the hands that held them ?
Any one who can advise me I would be glad to hear from you.
Thanks in aadvance.
