I think it is time to change that screen saver ! LOL. All kidding aside I am not sure of what "limber holes "in the keel you are talking about. I have the book "U995 " by ECKARD WETZEL and do not seem to see these holes. The keel was not not a structural member of the hull ( this was done by the circular rings and welded plates of the pressure hull ) it's main job was a place to put the rough ballast weight of the boat in. The ballast was made from cast iron ingots which had a handle in it to help in lifting them ,these ingots came in 10,25 and 50 kg weights. Since the keel was outside the pressure hull maybe these holes are for flooding and drainage, in this way the keel does not have to be pressure proof.But ,I am not 100% on this .
