Hi Greg
The original arrangement of flaks guns on both VIIA and early VIIB types was
a dismountable single 2cm mounting located on the after deckcasing just aft the conning tower.
This mounting was firstly thought as anti-surface weapon and secondly as a Flak gun.
Afterwards this mounting was thought mainly as a Flak gun, but for this use
such position had disadvantages, so it was resited (and fixed) to the after end of the conning tower, and for this, the small smoking deck (wintergarten) was enlarged into a circular platform of about 2m diameter.
This Flak disposition remained as this state until mid-1942 and was called
Turm 0.
