Hello Pappy,
triple max rpm\'s were 490 not 1500. Top overhaul on both 9cyl MAN\'s of a type IX could be accomplished theoretically within 3 days running 2 shifts/day provided all required spares were at hand. Changing batts was a very tedious job on the VII\'s and IX\'s because of the lack of overhead space in the batt compartment(s). One could not just pluck out the dead cells. A whole lot of shifting and restowing had to be done. Or the whole lot plucked at once. All had to come out and in through hatches 0.60m diam. (abt.2\') with the aid of handy-billies. Rgds, RB
