Hi All,
John, interesting post, the only other explanation for a green explosion would be that of copper being on fire or under fire as copper burns in green flames.
With regard to U-47 (Hello George!), the explosion probably took longer because of Prien\'s extreme depth. Perhaps he was already very deep and out of control when the final depthcharge did its thing. 10 seconds seems about right for a depth charge set at 150 meters. The glow is probably from the reflection in the massive upcoming bubble. If you look at some of the Hollywood underwater explosions, you can see the same thing.
