Hi Yall:
I’ve read, quite a few times, in books where the Captain requested Maximum Emergency Forward Speed and the engine room personal would go to maximum power on the Diesels and also put the electrical motors on line also. How much more speed could be achieved with the additional help of the electrical motors?
I also guest that this was strictly for an emergency situation; such as an aircraft about to bomb you, you don’t have time to submerge and need to get the hell out of Dodge, posthaste.
