BTW, I agree with your assessment of the various weapons I mentioned (mag exploder, 37mm AA cannon, etc.). What was Doentiz thinking with the \'stand on the surface and fight it out\' order? I mentioned those weapons because they were \'new weapons\' or technologies that were supposed to, or hoped to, provide a lot of help to the U-boats while being developoed, but turned out to have a lot of bugs, or to be duds, when actually (first) used in actual combat. The point being that many weapons that never got a chance to see action may look good in the history books because whatever hidden flaws they had were not flushed out in actual combat. But you have convinced me that this is not the case with the T schnorkel.
But on the \'T schnorkel\', you have convinced me that this would have been a truly usefull and difficult to counter development. It certainly would have made radar much less effective, almost totally inneffective, in the BOA.
