Operational losses could be expected to increase in the later war years as there were reductions in crew training, loss of experience from causalities, and lack of maintenance.
There is no reason to recover half century gone war dead. The sea is an honorable grave for a sailor. Let them lie in peace.
The British took some captured U-boats and submerged them to destruction. They then raised them and examined the results. Don\'t know if any of the results are released.
